The Alchemy of Ayahuasca
Alchemy is a medieval forerunner to modern science, most famously known for the quest of the transmutation of base metals into gold or to render a universal cure for disease. This could also be seen as a metaphor for the self-realization of human consciousness or the pursuit of inner transformation through the search for spirit in matter.
As they were working secretly to discover the Sacred Elixir, little did the medieval European alchemists know that thousands of miles away in the deep jungles of unknown lands, indigenous botanists had already discovered the pot of gold they were searching for, which contained chemicals and alkaloids not to be found in other parts of the world.
This elixir is commonly known today as Ayahuasca: The Vine of the Soul.
The Ayahuasca brew, known as Grandmother or Abuela, is a combination of different plants from the Amazon rainforest that together bring about a transmutation of sickness into well-being through a spiritual and physical synergy.
The truly mysterious side of Ayahuasca’s healing power is its spiritual component. She is a Master Plant Teacher, as opposed to a plant medicine such as herbal remedies. She heals through spiritual intervention as well as through the chemical constituents in the combination of plants themselves. How that happens and what effects that will have on anyone drinking this magical brew is now and probably will forever remain a mystery.
One could see the alchemical magic of the Ayahuasca brew as a synergy between Heaven and Earth, with the vine bringing you into sacred relationship with Pachamama and all her relations, and the DMT metaphorically taking you to meet God.
