Vilcabamba

Vilcabamba: The Sacred Valley of Healing

Nestled in a picturesque valley amid the mountains of southern Ecuador, Vilcabamba is a sought-after destination for tourists and expatriates alike. Known as one of the Earth’s Blue Zones, it boasts pristine air, pure water, and abundant fresh, wholesome food—contributing to its residents’ remarkable longevity.

Vilcabamba’s allure is steeped in history. Once a revered retreat for the Incans, the valley was where injured warriors were sent to heal and recover. This legacy, combined with its modern-day reputation as a haven for healing, continues to draw both Ecuadorian travelers and international visitors to this sacred valley. The presence of healers from across Ecuador and around the globe further enriches the valley’s unique healing energy.

Our own journey in Vilcabamba began in 2022 when we acquired an old horse ranch just outside town. The property, with its charming stone house originally built by Tom and Christine from Germany, has since become a labor of love. We’ve dedicated ourselves to transforming the space, adding a breathtaking circular ceremonial building (Maloka), a spacious Yoga Shala, spacious guest accommodations in the Bamboo Shala, and a serene pond stocked with Koi Carp and Tilapia fish.

Our adventure here is just beginning. We nurture a homestead with fruit trees, cocoa plants, and vegetable gardens. Recently, we welcomed new members to our family: two playful puppies, Misha and Shasta, and two adorable bunnies, Latte and Cappuccino. As we continue to grow, we look forward to introducing chickens and perhaps a few other animals to our flourishing sanctuary.
